Diana Death is the nefarious alter ego of a nice, sensitive college
student who enjoys playing her guitar loudly. She taught herself at
age 12 by reading chord books and playing along to the radio on a
1965 Silvertone purchased by her mother at a garage sale. At age 15
she began playing in various punk rock and garage bands, and in 1998
at age 21 the creature called Diana Death was born. Having found work
in the funeral business and suffering from an indefatigable obsession
with horror movies, she decided it would be fun to start a rock and
roll band dedicated to all things dark and weird. In 1998 her creep-rock
band, The Gory Details, recorded a 7-inch E.P. which was released
on Reanimator Records, a label dedicated entirely to horror-themed
music. It was also in this year that she began recording and playing
guitar in a San Diego-based creepy surf rock band called Deadbolt.
In 2003 she dropped the name "The Gory Details", preferring
to be known simply as Diana Death when performing gigs with or without
accompanying musicians. Her previously gothic garage/surf sound when
in the Details is now inspired by '60s garage rock, British Invasion,
and 1970s punk rock. When not writing about serial killers, slasher
flicks, and grievous bodily injuries, she is a nice girl who loves
puppies, kittens, and sunset walks on the beach.
